Its 01-December, World AIDS day, how far society are educated on "living and loving" HIV orphans? How can we help them to meet their needs? How can they survive without our help?
It is a time now me and you to make the HIV orphans happy. It is also a time now to remove the distinctions between the HIV orphans and normal childrens,
The question is how can we help them? The answer is N.G.O like ZASO will show you the way.
Our motto is "LOVE THE HIV ORPHANS AS YOU LOVE YOUR OWN CHILDREN"

Home support to elder

Zaso also extends its support to the elders who lives in hard life, most of the elders when they rich at the age of 70's need support from the family and the outsiders such as NGO's, therefore Zaso decide to extends its wings to the elders also by providing living support to them.

Zaso not only deal with orphans but also help the children who lives in hard life, by providing support to them such as school materials which includes books, pens uniforms etc, living needs which includes funds, soap, food, etc.

About ZASO


INTRODUCTION

ZASO is an abbreviation of Zanzibar AIDS Association and Support of Orphans. It is a Non Governmental Organization established in 1995 and was officially registered with Reg No. 24 on 17th September 1996 under Society Act No 6 of 1995. It was the first NGO in Zanzibar to be established solely for HIV /AIDS activities with special emphases to AIDS Orphans. However other vulnerable children below twenty four years who are staying under the same guardians are ZASO secondary target for the purpose of reducing stigma.

ZASO has Bank Accounts at National Bank of commence, Zanzibar Branch. ZASO follows financial procedures including internal and external annual auditing.

ZASO has a body of trustee, executive committee, training team and management team so as to run the organization activities effectively.

ZASO collaborates with national and international institutions like UNICEF, Medicous Del Moundo, AFIRCARE Tanzania, PACT Tanzania, ZANGOC, ANGOZA, Barclays Bank etc.

VISSION OF ZASO
ZASO is dedicated to build a society that will not stigmatize the AIDS orphans.

MISSION OF ZASO
To contribute to the wellbeing of the AIDS Orphans in Zanzibar.

OBJECTIVES
1. To provide support for the physical and social well being to AIDS Orphans.
2. To mobilize and educate the community on the need to live harmoniously with AIDS Orphans.
3. To collaborate with legal institutions so that right of AIDS Orphans is protected.
4. To educate the community about AIDS and its prevention so as to lower the number of infected persons and Orphans.

PROGRAMMES OF ZASO


1. Material support to Orphans. ( school materials, food, hygiene )
2. Peer education and theatre shows to OVC and youth through trained peer educators and theatre artists
3. Home Based Care for Orphans who are HIV positive.
4. Income generating activities (IGA) to guardian’s caretakers.
5. Debate competitions in schools to enhance HIV/AIDS current information
